Our Countryside Team is responsible for managing a variety of sites including Seaton Wetlands and a range of Local and Community Nature Reserves. The team also provides a thriving outdoor learning service, supports an ever growing volunteer team and coordinates an exciting public events programme.
About the role
We have an exciting and challenging job opportunity to be at the heart of our community engagement work with residents across East Devon. The Countryside team is innovative, ambitious and at the forefront of nature conservation, driving forward new ideas that link the outdoors to everyone’s quality of life. You will lead our events and volunteer programmes. You will bring the great outdoors alive for our resident’s, support our growing team of volunteers and facilitate opportunities for everyone to get involved and active in this beautiful part of Devon.
You will lead our events development and delivery, alongside the team, producing the Wild East Devon events guide with our partners. You will be responsible for recruiting and co-ordinating volunteers, providing a high standard of training and support. You will also play a key role in developing our visitor offer across our reserves.

First and foremost, you share our love for the natural environment and have a desire to promote it to all. We’re looking for practical experience in event management, volunteer coordination and marketing that show your ability to be creative, innovative and to help drive forward the development of our work.
Brimming with fantastic ideas and the energy and commitment to turn them into reality, you will have a positive, can-do attitude to inspire others to get outdoors and enjoy the benefits of contact with nature. You will also have proven skills and experience of developing and organising events along with experience of successfully engaging, managing and working with volunteers. You will also have a working knowledge of marketing these opportunities via online platforms and traditional media.
With excellent ICT and communication skills and ideally a degree in a relevant related subject, you will knock us over with your genuine passion for people and wildlife, with your professional approach and your ability to bring a smile to people’s faces whether leading an event, supporting volunteers, welcoming visitors or working with partners.
You must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act). The role will involve some weekend working during busy periods.
